During a temperature program the DSC method measures the heat flow, which is necessary to maintain the same temperature between the sample and the reference (empty crucible). From the measured heat flow the sample purity/composition and changes in the material can be concluded, e.g. crystal transformation, phase changes.

For the evaluation of DSC curves Setsoft software is used.
