Nostrification (Formal Recognition) of a Foreign Doctoral Degree

Regulations - BME Doctoral and Habilitation Procedures (Chapter 15)
Documents that must be submitted for the nostrification of a foreign doctoral degree
- Application form indicating the discipline and branch of science indicated in the degree certificate to be nostrificated;
- a copy of the original degree certificate certified by Hungarian civil law notary;
- (if required, the authenticated translation of the degree certificate, as well as an official publication on the doctoral procedure issued by the university conferring the degree and the authenticated translation thereof);
- 1 hard copy and an electronic version of the doctoral thesis, in accordance with the guidelines on the Doctoral School's website;
- a declaration stating that the printed and electronic versions of the delivered thesis are identical in all respects (2 copies);
- professional curriculum vitae;
- an MTMT link to a bibliography showing the applicant's scientific achievements;
- brief description of the circumstances of defence (the subjects in which the exams were taken, whether there was any public disputation held on the dissertation, name of the Chair of committee suggesting the degree) as well as naming the doctoral school and the supervisor (if you obtained your degree in the form of organized education);
- copies of the certificates of language proficiency (original certificates must also be presented);
- declaration of the requestor that the given degree has been neither submitted for nostrification to nor nostrificated by any other Hungarian university;
- dispatch-note proving successful transfer of administrative fee;
- declaration of consent to the dissertation being made available to the general public;
- copy of MSc diploma (original diplomas must also be presented);
- Copy of proof of nationality (original document must also be presented);
- Proof of address and residence in Hungary (official certificate) in effect at the time of handing in the request;

Foreign language proficiency
Complex language examination in English at level B2 or above, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages adopted by the Council of Europe, or an equivalent certification of language competence.
