Application for Thesis, Professional Thesis, or Individual Project (BMEVETO codes only!)

Our faculty collects applications from students for thesis, professional thesis, or individual tasks electronically. The electronic application is preceded by consultation with the BME contact person (supervisor, consultant). It is advisable to find out the details by clicking on the following links:

  • Information related to the professional thesis
  • Information related to the thesis (master's programme)
  • Opportunities beyond the core curriculum: Involvement in University Research
  • Opportunities beyond the master's curriculum: Involvement in University Research

Main Steps in the Student Application Process

  1. Logging into the BME Directory

Accessing the application programme requires login to the BME directory.

If you already have a directory identifier, log in by clicking the link at the bottom of this page to access the application interface.

  2. Filling out, Editing, and Checking the Application Form, Including Saving Progress

After logging into the directory, fill out the table as prompted, ensuring to complete all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Your name and Neptun code will automatically filled from the directory. The fields for programme, major, specialisation, and supervisor must be selected using the dropdown menus (the programme will automatically fill the department field when selecting the supervisor). If you do not find your supervisor please notify them as soon as possible, registration may take some days.

If your supervisor is not a faculty member at BME, you need to select a BME instructor's name in the supervisor field who has taken on the role of BME supervisor in accordance with the regulations. In this case, details for the External Supervisor must also be filled out.

You can specify any number of consultants for the task alongside the supervisor.

Instead of writing the title and brief programme of the thesis (professional thesis, dissertation, individual task), it is advisable to copy it from a pre-prepared document you discussed in advance with your supervisor created with a text editor (e.g., Notepad). After checking the completion of the entire table, click on the “Save” button at the bottom.

Multiple applications (e.g., for several individual tasks) can be prepared with a single login.

  3. Finalising the Application Form

By finalising the application, the applicant acknowledges that they have familiarised themselves with the VBK Regulations for Professional Theses and Thesis work and that they recognise and will comply with what is stated therein. The necessary declarations can be found in the Annex of the Regulations for Theses. The complete regulations can be downloaded from here, and the editable annex can be downloaded from here.

Carefully check the completed application form, correct any errors found, and then finalise it. At this point, the application programme will notify the supervisor of the application via email. Afterwards, your application will be "pending acceptance." The supervisor must accept your application, about which the system will notify you by email.

  4. Instructor Acceptance of the Application

The instructor can either accept the finalised application or reject it in case of an error, indicating the reason for the rejection. The application programme will notify the student of both cases via email.

If the instructor rejects the application, the reason for rejection can be read in the email, and the application form will become editable again. This work phase can be avoided if you fill out the application with content already agreed upon with the supervisor.

Submission of the report of Individual Project (BMEVETO codes only!)

For the elective course coded BMEVETOyxxx titled "Individual Project" a one-page report must be prepared on the work carried out. The report should include not only the professional content but also the student's name, Neptun code, and the Neptun code and exact name of the enrolled course. The supervisor (as specified in the faculty system application) evaluates the report.

Acceptable submission methods by the end of the repetition week):

  • The supervisor sends the report via email, with a grade suggestion, to vbk.oktatas@vbk.bme.hu
  • The student sends a scanned version of the report, including the supervisor's grade suggestion and signature, to vbk.oktatas@vbk.bme.hu
  • The report can also be submitted in person at the Dean's Office (obviously with grade suggestion and signature)

We kindly request that you choose email submission as the primary method! Thank you.
