Educational (Teaching) Activity Scholarship

Pursuant to Section 44(5)(a) of the Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education (Nftv.) and the curriculum of the George A. Olah Doctoral School, within the framework of the course “Educational Activity”, PhD students are obliged, during the given semester, for a period of 14 weeks, to perform 4 hours of teaching-related activities per week. These include conducting classroom practical courses belonging to the BSc and MSc programmes under the supervision of BME VBK, marking mid-term examinations, and leading laboratory groups. As these duties form part of the curriculum, upon successful completion of each "Educational Activity" course, the doctoral student is awarded 4 credits per semester in accordance with the curriculum of the George A. Olah Doctoral School.

For PhD students who complete their "Educational Activity" course with an excellent (grade 5) result, BME VBK awards a performance-based scholarship that takes academic performance into account, in the amount of HUF 12,500 per credit, in accordance with Section 85/C(d) of the Nftv. and Section 23(3)(a) of the BME Regulations on Student Fees and Benefits (TJSZ). The scholarship is planned to be paid in January for the autumn semester and in June for the spring semester.
Applications may be submitted by completing and submitting the "Application form for teaching activity scholarship". Applications for the scholarship must be submitted at the Dean’s Office (BME, Building K, Floor I, 22) by the end of the week of repeats of the given semester. Applications submitted after the deadline will be automatically rejected.
The applications are evaluated, at the request of the Dean, by a committee consisting of the Head of the Doctoral School and the Vice-Dean for Scientific Affairs. The result of the application process will be published on the website of BME VBK no later than ten days after the application deadline.
An appeal against the decision may be submitted within 15 days of its notification—or, in the absence thereof, from the date on which the applicant became aware of the decision—to the Student Appeal Panel, by submitting a request through the Neptun System.
